Daylight saving time in Slovakia
In Slovakia, formerly part of Czechoslovakia, Daylight Saving Time (locally known as "Letný čas") was with occasional breaks introduced in the early 40's. The annual summer time, however, was only implemented in 1979. After several years, Slovakia has established the rule that summer time begins the last weekend of March (the night from Saturday to Sunday) and ending on the last weekend of September. Since 1996, Daylight Saving Time has been prolonged about one month by means that DST lasts until the last weekend in October.
